Yackandandah punches above its weight! Congratulations Judy Davis and the Yackandandah community for successfully breaking the Guinness World Record for a continuous line of bunting. With 7.78 kilometres of bunting, Yackandandah volunteers and businesses contributed to well and truly breaking the previous record of 4.71 kilometres.
In November 2013, the Yackandandah community led by Judy Davis, entered the record books with a world breaking record of over 7kms of bunting, breaking the previous record of 4.71 kilometres. Although the record didnt last long, this achievement is a testament to the passion and determination of a small rural community punching above its weight.
What started off as a mad moment Judy had in the office, in wanting to open a craft fair and community engagement projects, led into the Bunting program.
What followed was an energy in the community that got everybody involved, with people from nearby communities also wanting to get involved. Groups created bunting with their unique signatures and the project grew into the most enormous, fun and successful community event Judy had very been involved in. Listen to her enthusiasm and an amazing story of how everyday people can achieve the most amazing things.
